Position: Cook Type 1, Prep Cook

About the Position:
We are looking to hire a part time and seasonal prep cook to support food preparation and service operations at the Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center (DFAC). Our team is responsible for preparing and serving meals for military personnel 3 times daily and ensuring a clean, compliant kitchen environment. Rotating shifts will cover the facility's full 14-hour operational schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals following standardized government-approved menus
- Set up and maintain food serving lines
- Clean and sanitize food prep areas, kitchen equipment, dishes and utensils
- Assist with packing remote or contingency meals
- Follow established food safety procedures including HACCP and sanitation logs
- Work collaboratively with other cooks and the Food Service Supervisor to meet service goals
Requirements:
- 1 year of kitchen or institutional cooking experience is required.
- 1-2 Years of cooking experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must be physically capable of standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to follow instructions, maintain pace during peak meal times, and work well with a team
- Ability to get on a federal military base
- Servsafe Certification is preferred and candidates with this certification will be expedited in the interview process.
