Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant (Part-Time) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for pediatric dentistry, and the ability to support orthodontic procedures with precision and care. This role involves assisting the pediatric dentist during patient treatments, managing clinical workflows, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and comfortable experience for our young patients.
Duties
- Assist the pediatric dentist with various procedures including Invisalign scans, adjustments, and appliance fittings while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including panoramic and 3D scans, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Curve Dental or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures while demonstrating excellent knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, including appliance maintenance and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments
Requirements
- Prior experience in dental assisting within a pediatric or general dentistry setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Curvehero or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in a dental clinic environment.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, medical documentation, and medical coding related to dental records.
- Experience with four-handed dentistry to optimize efficiency during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
