Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with urgent care procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, grooming, and monitoring patient health status
- Conduct laboratory tests and interpret results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Handle pet care duties including pet grooming, pet care education, and ensuring proper animal comfort and safety
- Manage diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray acquisition and processing
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with dental cleanings or extractions
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments thoroughly
- Provide dog handling expertise during examinations or treatments, ensuring safe and effective restraint
- Assist with laboratory sample collection and processing for diagnostic testing
- Ensure adherence to veterinary critical care protocols during emergency situations
Skills
- Proven kennel experience coupled with animal handling expertise across various species including dogs and horses
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices
- Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray techniques, and aseptic surgical techniques
- Skilled in animal restraint, catheterization, and maintaining animal safety during procedures
- Familiarity with pet grooming, pet training techniques, and pet care best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively using veterinary terminology with team members and clients
- Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to veterinary dentistry procedures
- Capable of working efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Enthusiastic about ongoing learning in areas such as equine experience or advanced veterinary technician skills
