Position: Construction Project Superintendent
About the Role
TKO StaffPros LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Project Superintendent to lead on-site installation, fabrication, and quality control of HVAC duct-work and piping systems. You'll manage field operations, coordinate craft crews, interpret complex blueprints, and ensure all work meets safety regulations, engineering specifications, and project timelines. This is a hands-on leadership role where your expertise directly impacts project success and team performance.
What You'll Do
- Lead Field Operations — Manage and direct field foremen and crews of up to 20 workers, ensuring mechanical operations run efficiently and on budget
- Ensure Quality & Compliance — Conduct regular inspections to verify all duct and piping installations meet structural, pressure, and regulatory standards
- Plan & Coordinate Work — Read and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and shop drawings to sequence work properly and coordinate seamlessly with other trades
- Enforce Safety Standards — Maintain strict adherence to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard assessments, and keep job sites clean and organized
- Manage Resources — Oversee material procurement, manage tool and equipment usage, and forecast workforce needs
- Solve Problems — Investigate and resolve Requests for Information (RFIs), identify and mitigate clashes between structural, piping, and duct systems
What You'll Bring
- Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible field experience in piping and/or HVAC duct construction
- Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required); additional certifications in welding, piping design, or quality inspection highly preferred
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, fiberglass, galvanized duct) and various joining techniques
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and solve complex problems
- Communication: Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across trades and disciplines
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all phases of construction projects, including planning, execution, and closeout, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Develop detailed project schedules utilizing Primavera P6 or similar construction management software; coordinate schedule updates and adjustments as needed.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings to ensure accurate implementation.
- Supervise on-site activities, managing crews effectively while maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and federal safety regulations.
- Oversee procurement processes using HeavyBid or equivalent estimating tools; manage contracts and change orders with clarity and precision.
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify work meets project standards and specifications; address deficiencies promptly.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth workflow; facilitate communication regarding project progress and issues.
- Monitor project budgets, track costs against estimates, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Ensure construction site safety protocols are strictly followed; conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Manage project documentation diligently, including daily reports, RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and progress reports.
- Interpret technical schematics and construction drawings accurately; utilize tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing when necessary.
- Supervise team members effectively; foster a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth and accountability.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction management with a minimum of five years in commercial or heavy civil projects.
- Extensive knowledge of construction regulations, safety standards (OSHA), and federal safety compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Primavera P3, or similar platforms.
- Strong background in blueprint reading, schematic interpretation, and technical drawing review.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams on large-scale projects while maintaining schedule integrity.
- Skilled in construction estimating using HeavyBid or comparable tools; capable of managing budgets effectively.
- Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to lead teams confidently and coordinate across disciplines.
- Familiarity with managing contracts, change orders, and project documentation processes.
- Construction site experience with a focus on quality control, safety management, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to interpret electrical testing tools like ohmmeters; experience with pipeline projects is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour or 40-Hour Training are preferred.
