About the Role
This leadership role is responsible for directing and optimizing the operations of a precision machining center. The Manufacturing Machining Center Manager oversees CNC machining operations, production scheduling, quality standards, workforce performance, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operational excellence, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Lead and coordinate all machining center production activities, including CNC milling, turning, and secondary operations.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency goals are achieved.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Production Control to support production objectives and customer requirements.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure customer orders are completed and delivered on time.
- Manage staffing, training, performance, and development of machining center personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, cost reduction, quality enhancement, and process optimization.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Analyze production metrics and implement corrective actions to improve operational performance.
- Manage equipment utilization, preventive maintenance schedules, and capital equipment planning.
- Prioritize and coordinate expedited orders and changing production demands.
What You Bring
- Extensive experience leading machining operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining centers.
- Experience machining a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum, and other specialty metals.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflow optimization, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively balance customer requirements, production priorities, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 7–10 years of manufacturing experience, including leadership or management responsibilities within a machining environment.
- Experience with CNC machining operations and manufacturing best practices.
- Semiconductor, aerospace, medical device, or precision manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and MRP/ERP systems.
Work Conditions
This position operates primarily in a manufacturing environment with:
- Frequent exposure to machinery, moving equipment, and elevated noise levels.
- Occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, humidity, and outdoor elements.
- Physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Regular presence on the production floor to support operations and employees.
