ES General Manager Job Description
Overview
The ES General Manager is responsible for overseeing all branch(s) operations, ensuring health and safety as the top priority, driving sales growth, and leading a high-performing team within the assigned geographic area. This role combines operational excellence, safety compliance, and strategic sales initiatives to meet company goals, achieve financial targets, and foster strong client relationships. The manager will manage resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive business development to enhance market share and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Prioritize health and safety by ensuring compliance with all safe work practices, policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
- Ensure weekly near-miss reporting is completed and reviewed to proactively address potential safety issues.
- Oversee pre/post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation and compliance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, safe to use, and meets regulated certification requirements.
- Develop and implement safety-focused training programs, including equipment familiarity, to support succession planning and enhance workforce safety.
- Conduct periodic field visits to inspect equipment and working environments, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Goal would be to visit one active job per week in the geography of specified responsibilities.
- Monitor safety statistics, ensure compliance with accident/incident reporting procedures, and review critical safety documents.
- Observe and enforce all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
Operational Management
- Direct and optimize operations to meet utilization goals, with exceptions pre-communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide project specific documentation when necessary to ensure proper preparedness prior to project start dates.
- Participate in weekly meetings and calls to communicate successes and challenges related to current workload and future opportunities.
- Participate in regional reviews, providing input on operational reports, customer concerns, regulatory compliance, and safety issues.
- Monitor performance, addressing operational problems, safety concerns, and environmental issues to prevent recurring challenges.
- Prepare annual budgets based on market projections, refurbishment needs, capital expenditures, and fleet additions, enforcing cost controls to achieve financial targets.
- Oversee equipment and parts inventories, ensuring cost-effective purchasing processes and 100% compliance with certification requirements.
- Monitor repair and maintenance costs, taking corrective actions and planning major maintenance to align with budget guidelines.
Sales and Business Development
- Aggressively market company services to drive revenue growth and expand market share through new and existing client relationships.
- Create and maintain a client target list to pursue new client revenue and increase market presence.
- Work weekly to meet business development targets, ensuring consistent progress toward sales goals.
- Collaborate with project managers to maximize profit margins while ensuring clear communication with clients to deliver a positive experience and secure repeat business.
- Build and maintain collaborative, profitable relationships with customer organizations to enhance client retention and satisfaction.
- Identify and communicate potential growth opportunities to the Operations Team to support company expansion.
Leadership and Team Development
- It is the expectation that the General Manager is in the office daily – except when performing work site audits, site walks, or has pre-approval from direct stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and direction to maintain a secure, respectful, and team-oriented workplace.
- Establish quantified accountability measures for non-performers, protecting the company from low performance and potential labor issues during terminations.
- Ensure employees adhere to company goals, objectives, core values, and comply with company policies, procedures, and government/industry regulations.
- Support staff in following safe work practices and completing job duties efficiently, providing adequate resources and support.
- Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports, contributing to compensation recommendations, training plans, and bonus structures (if applicable).
- Lead weekly meetings to disseminate information and tasks effectively to departments and employees.
- Participate in developing recommendations for field and office staff regarding compensation, training, and bonuses.
Additional Responsibilities
- Be available for on-call duties as needed, ensuring responsiveness unless no viable options remain.
- Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and rules.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Identify and communicate niche market opportunities to enhance profitability.
Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
