The Ashokan Center, a 501c3 nonprofit, is a 385-acre nature preserve and cultural center in the Catskills in the Hudson Valley region, offering immersive programs in environmental education, music, arts, and community connection. Through outdoor educational programs, festivals, and cultural programs, Ashokan brings people together to experience the natural world, creative expression, and community. The mission of the Ashokan Center is to "Inspire learning and build community through shared experiences in nature, history, music and Art."
Position Overview
The Gifts Officer, a new role at the Ashokan Center, is a member of the Development team, responsible for growing revenue from individual donors, foundations, and corporate supporters. This role manages and builds a portfolio of high capacity supporters and prospects , with a focus on relationship-building, engagement, and increasing philanthropic support over time. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced development professional ready to take the next step into managing a portfolio and advancing into major gifts fundraising.
From time-to-time it may be necessary to work weekends or evenings.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an active portfolio of donors and prospects
- Conduct outreach, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of high level gifts
- Partner with the Development Director on strategy for top-tier donors
- Support donor communications and stewardship planning
- Identify new foundation and corporate funding opportunities
- Grant writing, reporting, and institutional relationship management
- Grow sponsorship support within established program
- Research and connect with prospects
- Track donor activity and moves management in CRM
- Collaborate on campaign strategy and donor segmentation
- Participate in donor events, site visits, and stewardship gatherings
- Represent Ashokan at networking events, and to funders and community partners
Qualifications
- B.A. in relevant field
- Min. 2-4 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in donor relations, grants, or sponsorships
- Successfully secured four to five figure gifts
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Familiarity with NeonOne or other CRM/donor tracking systems
- Comfortable with one-to-one donor meetings and solicitations
- Experience managing a donor portfolio
- A team player who has a positive, can-do attitude

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
