Thornberry Group is seeking a motivated IT Intern to support day‑to‑day technology operations during the summer. This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields who want hands‑on experience in a professional, Microsoft‑based IT environment. You’ll work alongside experienced IT staff, supporting users, devices, and systems while building real‑world technical and troubleshooting skills.
IT Support & Troubleshooting
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot PC hardware
- Install, configure, and support Windows operating systems
- Provide basic support for macOS devices
- Troubleshoot software and system issues
- Assist with device imaging, setup, and onboarding
Help Desk & User Support
- Respond to user issues using a ticketing system (Jira)
- Document issues and resolutions clearly
- Communicate technical problems in a way non‑technical users can understand
- Follow structured troubleshooting and escalation processes
Networking & Security Basics
- Support basic networking tasks (IP addressing, connectivity)
- Assist with entry‑level router and switch troubleshooting
- Apply basic security best practices, including malware awareness and safe computing
Microsoft Environment Exposure
- Assist with Microsoft 365 administration (user accounts, licensing)
- Support basic Microsoft Exchange tasks (mailboxes, distribution lists)
- Help manage users, groups, and permissions in Microsoft Entra (Azure AD)
- Work within Microsoft admin portals
- Track hardware and software inventory and maintain accurate documentation
Qualifications
- Foundational IT knowledge (CompTIA A+ equivalent)
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical users
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA A+
- Nice to have: Network+, Security+, CCNA
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
