JOB DESCRIPTION
Ecommerce Manager
Second in Command — Ecommerce Division
Reports To
Director of Ecommerce
Department
Ecommerce
Type
Full-Time
Scope
Amazon (primary) + All Ecommerce Channels
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Ecommerce Manager serves as the Director of Ecommerce's right hand — a trusted operator who owns the day-to-day execution across all platforms so the Director can focus on strategy, team development, margin optimization, and high-level initiatives. This role demands someone who thinks like a business owner, moves fast, and keeps every channel healthy and growing without needing constant direction.
This is a high-ownership role. You will be the first line of defense for issues, the voice of the Director in day-to-day operations, and a growth driver across every channel.
PRIMARY FOCUS: AMAZON
Amazon is the centerpiece of this role. The Ecommerce Manager will own Amazon end-to-end, including:
- Listing health, content quality, and catalog maintenance
- Case management and resolution of account or listing issues
- Inventory coordination and FBA/FBM operations oversight
- Review monitoring and brand protection
- Promotions, deals, and pricing management
- Seller Central reporting and performance metrics
- Coordinating with internal teams on launches, restocks, and content updates
CHANNEL MANAGEMENT — ALL PLATFORMS
Beyond Amazon, this role supports growth and daily operations across all ecommerce channels:
- Monitor and resolve day-to-day issues on all platforms (Walmart, TikTok Shop, DTC site, etc.)
- Identify growth opportunities per channel and execute with minimal oversight
- Maintain platform compliance and keep listings optimized and current
- Track channel-level KPIs and flag trends or anomalies to the Director
- Serve as the operational point of contact so the Director is not pulled into the weeds
INBOX & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
A key function of this role is protecting the Director's time and attention:
- Triage and respond to platform emails, partner inquiries, and vendor communications
- Handle routine correspondence independently; escalate only what requires Director input
- Draft and send responses on behalf of the Ecommerce team as needed
- Maintain organized records of ongoing issues, conversations, and resolutions
TEAM COLLABORATION
This role works closely with internal teams to keep operations moving:
- Partner closely with the Buying Team on product assortment, launches, and sell-through strategy
- Coordinate with creative, content, and marketing teams to ensure channels are fully supported
- Attend and contribute to internal meetings in place of the Director when appropriate
- Onboard and support junior team members or contractors as the team scales
WHAT YOU OWN
The Ecommerce Manager operates with high autonomy in the following areas:
- Day-to-day Amazon operations — no escalation needed for routine issues
- Small-to-medium platform issues across all channels
- Email triage and stakeholder communication
- Channel reporting and performance summaries
- Execution of campaigns, promotions, and product launches across platforms
WHAT YOU SUPPORT
The Director retains ownership of the following — the Ecommerce Manager provides input, data, and execution support:
- Overall ecommerce strategy, long-term roadmap, and new channel initiatives
- Advertising strategy, budget allocation, and performance oversight
- Margin and profitability analysis across all channels
- Platform and vendor rep relationships — all calls and negotiations with platform reps stay with the Director
- New betas, brand partnerships, and high-level collaborations with the buying team
- Team accountability — including one-on-ones, weekly check-ins, monthly reviews, and performance management
- Hiring, development, and long-term team growth
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- 3–5+ years of hands-on ecommerce experience, with significant Amazon Seller or Vendor Central experience
- Strong working knowledge of Amazon operations (listings, cases, FBA, Seller Central)
- Experience managing or supporting multiple ecommerce channels simultaneously
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment
- Excellent written communication skills — you represent the team in writing regularly
- Self-starter who identifies problems and solves them before escalating
- Comfortable with data — able to pull, interpret, and act on channel metrics
Preferred:
- Experience with Walmart Marketplace, TikTok Shop, or DTC platforms
- Familiarity with ecommerce advertising (Sponsored Products, off-platform ads)
- Experience in a retail, wholesale, or consumer goods environment
- Background working alongside or reporting to a senior ecommerce leader
WHO YOU ARE
- A problem-solver, not a problem-reporter — you bring solutions
- Execution-obsessed — you follow through, close the loop, and don't let things fall through the cracks
- Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch what others miss and take pride in getting things right
- Genuinely passionate about ecommerce — you stay curious, follow the space, and care about the work
- A clear communicator who can represent leadership professionally
- Equally comfortable in the details and thinking about channel growth
- Someone who takes ownership of your channels like they are your own business
- Adaptable and calm under pressure — ecommerce moves fast and things break
This role is the engine behind the Director's ability to operate at the highest level.
If you thrive on ownership, variety, and making an operation hum — this is your seat.
