Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Business Development Manager from Food & Beverage for a direct-hire opportunity in the San Gabriel and City of Industry, CA area. This role is ideal for a results-driven sales professional with a strong background in food and beverage, business development, major retail account management, and mainstream retail channel growth.
This opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of new account development, strengthen relationships with retail buyers and distributors, and directly influence market expansion. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within regional and national mainstream retail channels.
- Manage and grow relationships with retail buyers, category managers, distributors, and key account stakeholders.
- Expand revenue within existing accounts through strategic selling, promotional planning, and product placement opportunities.
- Monitor customer needs, competitive activity, pricing trends, promotional strategies, and market conditions.
- Collaborate with production, forecasting, logistics, and internal support teams to ensure product availability and timely delivery.
- Track sales activity, manage the sales pipeline, forecast opportunities, and consistently meet or exceed revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Business Development: Identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities within key regional and national mainstream retail channels.
Account & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for retail buyers, category managers, and distributors to expand current account revenue.
Market Strategy & Analysis: Maintain a pulse on customer needs, competitive landscapes, pricing models, promotional strategies, and evolving market trends.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams (production, forecasting, and logistics) to ensure product availability, timely delivery, and seamless customer satisfaction.
Pipeline Management: Meticulously track sales activities, forecast pipeline growth, and consistently hit or exceed revenue benchmarks.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
5+ years of dedicated sales experience strictly within the Food & Beverage industry.
Proven track record selling into and managing large, mainstream retail accounts (e.g., Albertsons, Kroger, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, Walmart).
Deep industry knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of F&B supply chains, broker/distributor networks, retail account structures, and buyer psychology.
Expert Negotiator: Strong ability to pitch product lines, overcome objections, negotiate terms, and close high-volume deals.
Self-Starter Mentality: Highly organized with the ability to work independently while remaining a deeply collaborative team player.
Preferred (The Extras):
Experience with Asian food items - Experience: Prior experience working with Asian food brands or categories is a huge plus and highly valued.
Language Skills: Bilingual in Mandarin is a plus, but not required.
Active Network: An existing rolodex of active relationships with major retail buyers or category managers in the F&B space.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
