Position Overview
The Head of Digital Engineering is responsible for the stability, performance, and strategic evolution of Gibraltar's business applications and custom-developed software solutions. The role will initially focus on stabilizing the Lane application portfolio, reducing operational risk associated with legacy and custom systems, and creating a long-term roadmap for the Job Tracker platform to ensure it supports future business growth, operational efficiency, and digital transformation initiatives. Along with Job Tracker, the Head of Digital Engineering will also assist in identifying opportunities to modernize the Lane organization (ERP, new applications, etc.) through technology and partnering with the leadership team to realize the benefits.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the design and delivery of application enhancements, integrations, and digital solutions.
- Assess current application health, support models, technical debt, and operational risks.
- Develop and implement application lifecycle management practices.
- Reduce business disruption through improved monitoring, incident management, change control, and documentation.
- Create support and escalation procedures for critical business applications.
- Partner with business stakeholders to prioritize stabilization efforts and enhancement requests.
- Evaluate modernization opportunities, including cloud architecture, workflow automation, reporting capabilities, mobile access, API enablement, and AI-assisted functionality.
- Prioritize enhancements based on business value, operational efficiency, risk reduction, and maintainability.
- Develop recommendations regarding future investment, refactoring, replacement, or platform expansion.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience supporting, enhancing, or managing business applications, enterprise systems, or digital solutions in a manufacturing, distribution, construction products, or industrial environment.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or engineer-to-order business models preferred.
- Experience with application integrations, workflow automation, APIs, and data management strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in application management, project management, cloud platforms, or software development considered a plus.
- Domestic travel up to 25%.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders to improve operational processes through technology.
- Experience managing third-party software vendors, development partners, and support providers.
- Ability to create technology roadmaps and prioritize investments based on business value, risk reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Self-directed and comfortable operating in a highly independent role with broad ownership across multiple business applications.

The expected salary range for this position is $115,250 – $157,750 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
