Are you passionate about dogs and thrive in a calm, purposeful environment? Do you love helping dogs become their best selves through structure, clear leadership, and positive guidance — rather than chaotic free-play? If you're energetic, observant, reliable, and ready to grow in a professional dog care setting, we want you on our team!
About Us
From The Heart Dog Services is a structured dog training and behavior program based in the Royal Oak area. We specialize in building calm, confident dogs through consistent leadership, daily exercise, clear boundaries, and relationship-based training.
Our trainer-led daycare is intentionally different — it’s not traditional free-play daycare. It’s a focused, behavior-driven environment that gives dogs the guidance and productive outlets they need to succeed, especially those who do best with more structure and calm energy.
We’re building a tight-knit team of dedicated professionals who take genuine pride in creating a safe, organized, and positive space for dogs and their families.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a reliable Part-Time Daycare Attendant to support daily operations in our structured daycare and training program. This is an active, hands-on role perfect for someone who enjoys direct work with dogs, learning professional handling and management skills, and maintaining a calm, well-organized facility.
If you’re patient, physically active, detail-oriented, and aligned with a structured approach to dog care, this is an excellent opportunity to grow with a purpose-driven business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with structured daycare routines, including group activities, rest periods, and smooth transitions between sessions
- Supervise dogs during structured group time and join pack walks as directed
- Manage dog drop-offs, pick-ups, and daily client communication with warmth and professionalism
- Closely observe dog behavior, body language, and interactions — reporting any concerns promptly to the lead trainer
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and highly organized facility (crates, yards, floors, play areas, etc.)
- Support feeding schedules, fresh water access, and medication administration as needed
- Reinforce calm behavior and training principles throughout the day
- Perform general tasks to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient operations
What We’re Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Comfortable and confident handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Reliable, punctual, and available for weekends (our busiest days are currently Tuesday–Thursday + weekends)
- Physically fit — able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and remain active for full shifts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions consistently
- Comfortable in a lively environment with barking and active dogs
- Reliable transportation to our Royal Oak area location
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Previous dog experience (daycare, training, boarding, grooming, vet, or extensive personal handling) is a big plus, but not required. We provide thorough, hands-on training to the right motivated candidate.
Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time: 20–30 hours per week, based on daycare demand and business needs
- Shifts include mornings, afternoons, or full days — you’ll learn both opening and closing procedures
- Pay: $14.00 – $16.00 per hour, with performance-based increases for reliability and excellence
- Growth path: Strong performers can move into more hours, full-time roles, and advancement opportunities in training and leadership as the program expands
Benefits
- 401(k) matching
- Employee discount
- Paid time off
