Family Pathways is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Outpatient Mental Health Billing Specialist to support our outpatient behavioral health and mental health services. This position is an essential part of our revenue cycle team, ensuring accurate claims submission, timely reimbursement, and billing support that helps expand access to quality mental health care.

Key Responsibilities
- Submit and manage outpatient mental health and behavioral health claims to Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers
- Verify client insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements
- Track and resolve unpaid or denied claims through follow-up and appeals
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and correct billing discrepancies
- Ensure accurate use of CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and required modifiers
- Work closely with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation for billing compliance
- Maintain complete and accurate billing records within the EHR and billing systems
- Respond to client billing inquiries with professionalism and confidentiality
- Assist with billing reports, reconciliation, and other revenue cycle functions as needed
- Assist with professional credentialing
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing, insurance claims, or healthcare revenue cycle
- Knowledge of Medicaid billing processes and payer requirements
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and outpatient claims submission
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in outpatient mental health, counseling, or substance use billing
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania Medicaid/managed care billing procedures
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or billing software systems
- Associate degree or billing certification (CPB, CPC, or similar)
