Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Set Up Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC machining equipment to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in machine setup, and quality measurement will ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Duties
- Set up CNC machines, including lathes or milling machines, ensuring proper calibration and tooling for each job
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining specifications and tolerances
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments for quality control
- Perform manual machining tasks when necessary, including grinding, lathe work, or welding to support production needs
- Maintain optimal machine performance by performing routine inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting of CNC equipment like Fanuc controllers
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure safety standards are upheld during machine setup and operation
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC languages including G-code and M-code
- General blueprint reading skills for mechanical blueprints interpretation
- Mechanical knowledge including the use of machining tools, hand tools, grinders, power tools, and tooling management
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications accurately
- Skilled in measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measurement instruments for quality inspection
- Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining dimensions and tolerances
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to metal machining, plastics injection molding support equipment, welding practices, and forklift operation is desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly and efficiently
- Mechanical aptitude with a focus on precision measurement in machining environments
