Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the Pre Op and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Monitor patients' vital signs and assess their condition post-surgery
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician
- Assist with patient recovery and ensure their comfort and safety
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment

Summary
As a Registered Nurse in Pre-Op/PACU, you will provide attentive perioperative care from preoperative assessment through post-surgical recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Reporting to the perioperative team, you will monitor vitals, manage airway and IV access, administer medications, and support care plans. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes, maintain sterile procedures, and uphold high standards of patient care in a fast-paced operative environment. Your role is pivotal in preparing patients and guiding them to recovery.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with licensure and current in good standing
- Experience in pre-operative, PACU, or perioperative care; post-surgical patient monitoring
- Proficiency in IV insertion, catheterization, airway management, and basic life support
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks)
- Strong patient assessment, care planning, and collaboration with healthcare team
- Commitment to patient safety, cleaning/sanitation procedures, and medication pass administration
