POSITION SUMMARY
Alamo Premier Mental Health Clinic (APHMC) is seeking a dependable, cross-trained Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support both front office and back office operations in an outpatient mental health setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable obtaining and documenting vital signs across all age groups and has experience with chronic disease management and/or pediatric patient care.
The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, patient-centered, and comfortable supporting both administrative and clinical responsibilities as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Office Support
- Greet and check in patients professionally.
- Answer phones and manage patient communication.
- Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and patient information.
- Collect copays and balances.
- ·Support patient check-out and follow-up scheduling.
Clinical & Back-End Support
- Collect and document vital signs.
- Assist with urine specimen collection and urine drug screening (UDS).
- Maintain accurate EHR documentation.
- Support referrals, prior authorizations, and medication refill workflows.
- Assist providers with clinical workflow needs.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
Cross-Training Expectations
- Support both front office and clinical operations.
- Assist with workflow coverage during high-volume periods or staff absences.
- Work collaboratively with providers and administrative staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of insurance eligibility, prior authorizations, referrals, copays, and basic
- medical billing workflows.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Compassionate, professional, team-oriented, and patient-centered approach.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to assist patients with movement during vitals or specimen collection.
- Ability to operate standard office and medical equipment (blood pressure cuff,
- glucose-lipid machine; thermometer, scale, urinalysis test kits, computer, phone, copier).

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
