Our Mission
Inspiring Fitness & Changing Lives Every Day
At Fit Body Boot Camp, we deliver more than a workout. Our model combines the personal attention and accountability of personal training with the energy and community of a group environment. Our 30-minute sessions are designed to challenge members while remaining welcoming and adaptable to different fitness levels.
We are looking for an energetic, coachable, and people-focused Group Fitness Intern who wants hands-on experience in fitness coaching while learning the Fit Body Boot Camp system.
Position Summary
The Group Fitness Intern will work alongside experienced Fit Body Boot Camp coaches to learn how to safely, effectively, and enthusiastically deliver an exceptional member experience.
This is a developmental position. The intern will begin by observing and assisting coaches and will progressively take on greater coaching responsibilities as competency, confidence, and knowledge of Fit Body Boot Camp standards are demonstrated.
The ideal candidate is passionate about fitness, enjoys working with people, brings positive energy into the room, and is eager to develop into a confident fitness professional.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Session Support
- Assist certified coaches during Fit Body Boot Camp group training sessions.
- Learn proper exercise setup, demonstration, coaching cues, regressions, and progressions.
- Help members understand proper exercise technique and movement patterns.
- Learn how to provide appropriate exercise modifications for different fitness levels and abilities.
- Support coaches in maintaining an energetic, organized, and safe training environment.
- Progress toward leading warm-ups, exercise demonstrations, portions of sessions, and eventually complete sessions when approved by studio leadership.
- Learn how to balance group instruction with individualized coaching and attention.
Member Experience
- Greet members by name and help create a welcoming environment from the moment they enter the studio.
- Encourage members throughout their workouts and celebrate effort, progress, milestones, and victories.
- Build positive relationships with members while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Help members feel seen, supported, and included regardless of their current fitness level.
- Develop the emotional intelligence and communication skills necessary to coach different personalities effectively.
- Help create the positive, supportive community Fit Body Boot Camp members expect.
Safety & Professional Standards
- Learn and consistently follow Fit Body Boot Camp coaching and safety standards.
- Demonstrate exercises with proper form and technique.
- Recognize when a member may need an exercise modification and involve the supervising coach when appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of the entire training floor rather than focusing on only one individual.
- Keep the workout area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards.
- Assist with equipment setup, sanitation, breakdown, and resetting the floor between sessions.
- Immediately communicate injuries, safety concerns, or unusual member situations to the supervising coach.
Essential Safety & Communication Functions
Because this position involves the active supervision of multiple participants performing physical exercise and using fitness equipment, the ability to maintain a safe training environment is an essential function of the position.
The Group Fitness Intern must be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Maintain continuous situational awareness of members and activity throughout the training floor.
- Identify unsafe exercise technique, improperly positioned equipment, falls, collisions, physical distress, or other conditions requiring intervention.
- Recognize and respond promptly and appropriately to injuries, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
- Communicate exercise instructions, safety cues, corrections, modifications, and emergency directions quickly and effectively in an active group environment.
- Demonstrate exercises and observe members sufficiently to provide appropriate coaching and safety corrections.
- Safely navigate an active training floor containing members, weights, resistance equipment, benches, and other fitness equipment.
- Respond promptly when an immediate safety risk develops.
- Follow established emergency procedures and summon additional assistance when necessary.
Equal Opportunity & Individual Assessment: The Islands Fit Body Boot Camp evaluates applicants based on their ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, and does not automatically exclude an applicant because of a disability.
Because member safety is a fundamental responsibility of this position, any concern regarding an applicant’s ability to safely perform an essential job function will be evaluated individually based on the actual duties and circumstances of the position. Reasonable accommodations will be considered where applicable. An applicant may be unable to qualify for the position when an individualized assessment determines that an essential function cannot be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, or that the individual would present a significant safety risk that cannot be eliminated or sufficiently reduced through reasonable accommodation.
Studio & Team Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and prepared for every scheduled shift.
- Participate in coach education, meetings, training, and feedback sessions.
- Assist with opening, closing, and general studio responsibilities as assigned.
- Learn the member journey and how coaching, accountability, nutrition support, and community work together to produce results.
- Support studio events, challenges, member celebrations, and community activities when scheduled.
- Represent Fit Body Boot Camp professionally both inside and outside the studio.
