We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant with experience in affordable housing compliance to support the accuracy and integrity of rent charges and tenant certifications across our property portfolio. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with HUD, RD, and Section 8 regulations by reviewing certifications, balancing rent and set-aside reports, and coordinating closely with on-site property teams.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines while working with sensitive tenant and financial information.

- Review tenant certifications for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance

Track upcoming certification deadlines and follow up with site teams on missing or incomplete documentation

Submit completed certifications to HUD or RD in accordance with required timelines

Maintain organized records to support internal and external audits
- Review and balance monthly rent reports against project worksheets

Balance set-aside reports to ensure affordable housing compliance

Implement rent changes in the property management system based on updated certifications and notices

Update rent amounts, utility allowances, and income limits in compliance with regulations
- Serve as a resource to site staff regarding certification and rent-related questions

Communicate clearly and professionally regarding corrections, deadlines, and compliance requirements

Provide guidance to site teams on serving rent change notices to residents
- 2+ years of experience in accounting support

Working knowledge of HUD, RD, and/or Section 8 programs

Preferred: Experience with property management software (Yardi, MRI, or similar)

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
