Overview
We are seeking an experienced and people-centered Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and operations within our Behavioral Health organization. This role is responsible for aligning HR practices with clinical, medical, operational, and regulatory priorities while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing workforce dedicated to improving patient outcomes.
The Director will oversee all aspects of HR including talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, training and development, compensation, and organizational culture across clinical and non-clinical teams.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute HR strategies that align with organizational goals and behavioral health service delivery
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and change management
- Promote a culture of engagement, equity, and continuous improvement
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead recruitment strategies for licensed clinicians, nurses, support staff, and leadership roles
- Address workforce shortages common in behavioral health through innovative sourcing and retention tactics
- Oversee orientation and onboarding programs that support clinical excellence and compliance
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a trauma-informed and psychologically safe workplace environment
- Manage employee relations issues with professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to best practices
- Support leadership in performance management and employee engagement initiatives
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, if applicable)
- Maintain HR policies and procedures aligned with behavioral health accreditation requirements
- Lead audits and investigations as needed
Compensation, Benefits & Retention
- Design competitive compensation structures for clinical and non-clinical roles
- Oversee benefits programs and wellness initiatives that support employee well-being
- Analyze turnover and develop retention strategies, particularly for high-demand roles
Training & Development
- Implement leadership development and clinical workforce support programs
- Ensure required training and certifications are tracked and maintained
- Partner with clinical leadership on workforce competency initiatives
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 7–10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or human services settings
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Experience with Paycom System
Preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR)
- Experience with behavioral health workforce challenges (e.g., clinician and medical recruitment/retention)
- Familiarity with accreditation bodies and healthcare compliance standards

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
