Ever driven past a sleek architectural canopy, a striking storefront system, or a metal panel facade and thought, "I bet that was fun to draft"? At Awnex, that's exactly the kind of work you'll be doing — every single day.
We design and manufacture the architectural metal systems that shape buildings across the country, and we're looking for an Architectural CAD Drafter II who's ready to turn precise drawings into real, standing structures. This isn't drafting into a void — your BOMs hit the shop floor, your drawings get built, and you'll watch your own work go from screen to steel.
You'll work in AutoCAD and Fusion 360 day in and day out, partner directly with project managers, production, and customers, and have a real hand in mentoring other drafters and shaping the standards the whole team works from. If you love clean linework, tight tolerances, and the satisfaction of a BOM that's actually right the first time, this is your seat.
This is an on-site role based at our Ball Ground, GA facility — you'll be right in the mix with the engineering and production teams, not working from drawings in isolation.
- 2–5 years of intermediate-level drafting experience.
- Recent, hands-on proficiency in AutoCAD — this needs to be current, not a skill from years ago.
- Recent, hands-on experience with a 3D modeling platform (Fusion 360 required; SolidWorks or similar a plus).
- Comfort generating and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) — part numbers, specs, and quantities that procurement and production can trust.
- Solid understanding of fabrication and construction processes, including material specifications and assembly methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering prints with a sharp eye for detail.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Clear, confident communication — you'll be working directly with customers, project managers, and the production floor.
- A collaborative mindset — you'll help other drafters level up and contribute to shared templates and standards.
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, formal drafting training or certification preferred.
- Must reside within a commutable distance of Ball Ground, GA — only local candidates will be considered for this on-site position.
