American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for an Ambulatory OR position requiring at least 1 year of experience across multiple surgical specialties.
-
Ambulatory OR setting within a Periop facility caring for Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology (VIR), and GI cases
-
Case types include total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, and elbow procedures
-
No general surgery, L&D, or pediatric cases performed
-
Day shift schedule of 4x10 hour shifts, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
-
Scheduled day off determined by department needs, with special requests considered when possible
-
Occasional late scheduling a few times per month
-
No on-call requirement
-
Possibility of floating within the Periop facility as needed

Uses Epic EMR
-
13-week assignment length
-
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
-
BLS certification required (AHA only)
-
CST certification preferred
-
SC or Compact RN license required if applicable
-
Experience in Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints required

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Community hospital experience preferred

Experience with aseptic technique, radiation safety, sharps safety, and specimen handling/labeling preferred
-
Experience with drills, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic light sources/cords preferred
-
Experience with orthopedic procedures such as ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, and joint replacements preferred
-
Podiatry procedure experience such as bunionectomy and metatarsal surgery preferred
-
Radiation badge must be provided by parent company

Driver's license required for consideration

Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR nursing staff in a fast-paced surgical environment

Support a variety of surgical specialties requiring well-rounded technical skills
-
First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local
-
Non-local candidates are prioritized for this position
-
Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application, as approval is based on facility needs
-
Multiple RTO requests within the 8-13 week contract will be denied
-
Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
-
Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion, though not guaranteed
-
During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
-
Candidates should complete all required labs within 72 hours of signing if within 90 days of the start date, or at least 2 weeks prior to the hard document due date
-
Pre-start compliance modules average 4 hours and must be completed before the assignment start date
