Activities Assistant

Position Summary
Sundance Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a friendly, dependable, and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will help create meaningful experiences that support our residents’ social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being.
The Activities Assistant works closely with the Activities team and other facility staff to organize programs, encourage resident participation, and maintain a welcoming and engaging environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others, building relationships, and bringing positive energy to each day.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, preparing, and leading scheduled resident activities
- Set up and clean up activity spaces, equipment, decorations, and supplies
- Escort residents safely to and from activities
- Encourage residents to participate while respecting their individual preferences and abilities
- Support group and individual activities, including games, crafts, music, exercise, celebrations, outings, and social events
- Visit with residents who may be unable or choose not to attend group programs
- Adapt activities to accommodate residents with different interests, abilities, and needs
- Help maintain activity calendars, attendance records, and other required documentation
- Monitor resident participation and communicate observations or concerns to the appropriate team member
- Assist with special events and seasonal programming
- Follow facility policies related to resident rights, privacy, safety, and infection prevention
- Participate in weekend and holiday activities as scheduled
- Perform other duties related to resident activities as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of one year experience as an activities assistant or activities director is required for consideration.
- Genuine interest in working with older adults and individuals with varying abilities
- Friendly, patient, compassionate, and respectful approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Comfortable leading groups and engaging residents in conversation
- Able to manage multiple activities and respond positively to changing priorities
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays
- Ability to meet all applicable pre-employment and facility requirementsPhysical Requirements
This position involves regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving activity supplies. The Activities Assistant must also be able to assist residents with transportation to and from programs in accordance with training, facility procedures, and any applicable physical restrictions or accommodations.
