Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our dispatch department while ensuring our drivers and customers receive support. This role requires strong leadership, organization, accountability, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who understands the trucking industry, values teamwork, and is motivated by achieving measurable results.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and manage the internal dispatch team.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure efficient freight movement and on-time service.
- Track, report, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) established by company ownership.
- Address driver concerns professionally and work toward timely resolutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through excellent communication and service.
- Coordinate with dispatch, safety, maintenance, and leadership to improve operational efficiency.
- Identify process improvements that increase profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Hold team members accountable to company expectations and performance standards.
- Ensure company policies and operational procedures are consistently followed.
- Assist ownership with strategic initiatives and operational planning.
Qualifications
- Previous management experience in trucking, transportation, or logistics required.
- Strong knowledge of dispatch operations and fleet management.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
- Outstanding communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze operational data and drive performance improvements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient with transportation management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office.
