Responsibilities
- Perform pet grooming services including bathing, brushing, hair trimming, pet coat styling, nail trimming, and ear cleaning to meet each pet’s specific needs.
- Handle dogs safely using animal restraint techniques and animal handling skills to ensure comfort and safety during grooming sessions.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences, provide updates, and offer pet care advice.
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, including sanitizing tools and equipment after each use.
- Assist with pet care tasks such as feeding, walking, or administering medications if required, demonstrating veterinary technician or assistant experience.
- Recognize signs of health issues or distress in animals and refer to veterinary professionals when necessary.
- Support kennel duties or pet sitting responsibilities as needed, including heavy lifting of animals or supplies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in pet grooming, including pet coat styling and pet nail trimming.
- Strong dog handling skills with the ability to manage animals of various sizes and temperaments confidently.
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and animal handling best practices.
- Background in veterinary experience, veterinary technician work, or veterinary assistant roles is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with animal care procedures such as pet sitting, kennel management, or equine experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with pet owners professionally and compassionately.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for animal or equipment handling.
- Prior experience in customer service within a pet care environment is preferred.
- Mandatory 2 years experience as a professional dog groomer is required.
