Job Description: Empire High School is seeking an Assistant Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in developing and managing a competitive, positive, and educational high school basketball program. This role focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and student-athlete growth both on and off the course.

Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices and matches

Provide individual and group instruction in basketball fundamentals, rules, and course strategy

Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player performance and team success.

Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.

Promote academic achievement and ensure players adhere to eligibility requirements.

Represent Empire High School with professionalism in the community and in interscholastic competitions.

Ensure compliance with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school policies.

Required:

Strong knowledge of the sport’s fundamentals, rules, and strategies.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.

CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

NFHS Coaching Certificates - fundamentals of coaching and concussion.

Must pass a background check as required by the school district.

Preferred:
-
Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.

Previous experience as an assistant coach.

Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.

Experience with student-athlete development programs.
