Position Summary
The Audit & Tax Associate will be responsible for performing audit engagements and preparing/reviewing tax returns for a variety of clients, including individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit entities. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in both audit and tax work, strong technical skills, and is comfortable working directly with clients in a small-firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute audit engagements, including testing of internal controls, substantive procedures, and financial statement analysis
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities
- Assist with tax planning and compliance matters for a diverse client base
- Prepare financial statements, work papers, and supporting audit documentation
- Identify accounting and reporting issues, research applicable guidance, and propose solutions
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide status updates
- Ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines
- Stay current with changes in tax law, auditing standards, and accounting regulations
- Support senior staff and partners on special projects and advisory engagements as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in audit and tax within a public accounting firm
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software (required)
- Basic knowledge of / familiarity with U.S. GAAP and general auditing standards
- Basic knowledge of / familiarity with federal and New York State individual and business tax regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel to client offices as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ProSystem fx (ProFx) Audit, PPC, or similar audit tools is a plus
- Experience working in a small to mid-sized public accounting firm
- Familiarity with Hindi is desired

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
