Chiller Technician – Commercial HVAC Service
Location: Houston, TX
Position Type: Full-Time
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Overtime available as needed)
Pay: $48.00–$55.00/hour (DOE)
Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Chiller Technician to join their commercial HVAC service team in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC and chiller systems. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, experience with commercial mechanical systems, and a commitment to delivering quality service while maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and chiller systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on commercial HVAC equipment.
- Service and optimize the performance of:
- Air-cooled chillers (scroll and reciprocating)
- Split systems (up to 25 tons)
- Rooftop units (up to 50 tons)
- Water source heat pumps (up to 15 tons)
- Mini-split systems
- Self-contained units and CRAC systems
- Air handlers, VAV boxes, fan-powered boxes, VFDs, and exhaust fans
- Disassemble and reassemble HVAC equipment for repairs and scheduled maintenance.
- Complete service calls and preventative maintenance efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Communicate findings and completed work clearly with customers.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and service inventory.
- Purchase materials as needed and document work accurately.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, professional job site.Qualifications
- 2–5 years of commercial HVAC service experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or trade school education preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment independently.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical components.
- EPA Certification and other applicable HVAC certifications are preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- Overtime: Available based on business needs
- Pay: $48.00–$55.00/hour, depending on experience
