American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke and Bariatric Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Medical/Surgical Overflow unit in a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma hospital that is also a Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center

Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care
-
Patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); may increase to 1:7–8 during surge

EMR: Epic
-
Equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and doppler
-
12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend rotation required

No on-call responsibilities

Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only) per regional needs

Active NC or compact RN license required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
General Med/Tele skillset required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, and wound care/dressing changes

Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract

Schedules are built on a 6-week cycle
