This role supports a global manufacturer of connector and interconnect solutions, working directly with customers and internal engineering teams to develop technical solutions for connector applications. The position is based at the company's Pasadena, CA facility and offers involvement across the full product lifecycle, from initial customer requirements through design, prototyping, and qualification.
Schedule
Full time, on site in Pasadena, CA, with the ability to travel by air and car up to 50% of the time for customer meetings and industry trade shows.
Compensation
$85,000 to $125,000 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility.
What You'll Do
This role collaborates with customers and sales engineers to understand application requirements and develop optimal technical solutions, reviewing customer specifications, drawings, and industry standards, and recommending connector designs that meet customer performance needs. Acting as the technical liaison throughout the design and development process, this person designs and develops new connector and interconnect solutions, participates in design reviews with cross functional engineering teams, and supports projects through prototype development, testing, and product qualification, ensuring designs meet customer, industry, and manufacturing requirements.
The role also presents technical concepts and design solutions directly to customers, provides engineering support during customer meetings and industry trade shows, and assists in developing technical documentation and product literature, representing the voice of the customer throughout product development. This position partners closely with Product Management, Business Development, Manufacturing, and Process Engineering teams, helping identify emerging market opportunities and future product technologies while supporting ongoing product innovation and engineering improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another related technical discipline
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and project management skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to travel by air and car up to 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 or more years of engineering experience within connectors, interconnect products, power systems, or harsh environment applications
- Experience presenting technical solutions directly to customers or at industry trade shows
