Responsibilities
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen tools in accordance with food safety sanitizing procedures.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as organizing supplies, peeling, chopping, or portioning ingredients under supervision.
- Clear tables promptly and efficiently by bussing dishes, glassware, and silverware to maintain a clean dining area.
- Support the kitchen staff by handling manual tasks like heavy lifting of supplies or equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow sanitation protocols to ensure all areas meet kitchen health and safety standards, including proper waste disposal and surface cleaning.
- Maintain organization of dishware storage areas and assist in restocking supplies as needed.
- Adhere to food safety management practices, including proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination.
Skills
- Strong understanding of food safety sanitizing procedures and sanitation standards within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Experience with dishwashing equipment operation and manual handling techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, bussing, and general kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with kitchen health and safety standards, including proper use of knives and kitchen tools.
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred; banquet, catering, hotel or culinary experience is a plus.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards supporting culinary staff and serving guests effectively.
