Financial Controller
A growing construction company in the Chicagoland area is looking to add a Construction Controller to its team.
This person will oversee the accounting function, support project financial reporting, and work closely with leadership to improve visibility across jobs, costs, margins, and cash flow.
This is a good fit for someone with strong accounting fundamentals who understands the construction industry and wants a role with real ownership.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations
- Manage month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
- Support job costing, WIP reporting, project accounting, and cost-to-complete analysis
- Partner with project managers and leadership on budgets, margins, billing, and cash flow
- Review AP, AR, payroll, and subcontractor/vendor-related accounting activity
- Help improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and visibility across the business
- Support ownership and executive leadership with financial insights and ad hoc analysis
Qualifications
- 8+ years of Accounting and Finance experience with progressive growth
- 2+ years of experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or Senior Level Accounting. We're open to the right candidate moving up here as well.
- Construction accounting experience preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, project accounting, or cost accounting
- Strong Excel and accounting system skills
- Experience with construction accounting software is a plus
- CPA is a plus, not required
Compensation
Estimated compensation range: $110,000–$160,000, depending on experience.
