This is a seasonal job that is expected to end sometime between the first part of September and end of November. While our home base is in Penn Yan, Inspectors inspect properties on Honeoye, Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca and Cayuga lakes! We are flexible on hours but you need to be available at least 2 days a week for a 9-5 schedule, preferably Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Housekeeping Inspector, your primary responsibility will include but not be limited to inspecting properties after guest departures and before guest or owner arrivals to report any housekeeping or maintenance issues that need to be addressed prior to their arrival. Inspectors are also responsible for responding to service requests for in-house guests or owners, addressing minor maintenance issues while inspecting the property, performing deep clean inspections as needed, and assisting with maintaining the overall upkeep of our properties. We strive to always provide an excellent stay for each of our guests and especially our property owners so your role is very important in this process.
Daily Task Include but are not limited to:
- Inspect vacation rental properties for cleanliness, presentation, and readiness in accordance with FLPP’s Standard Property Appearance Guide. Ensure all quality control standards are consistently met prior to guest and owner arrivals.
- Document deficiencies, maintenance concerns, or cleanliness issues through detailed notes and photos in the Breezeway app. Clearly report any items requiring a “call back” and follow through to ensure resolution.
- Work closely with the Property Care team to confirm properties are guest-ready, daily tasks are completed correctly, and operational standards are upheld. Communicate property status updates to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
- Hold team members accountable for work performed, standards not met, and guest or owner complaints. Escalate concerns to management and support corrective action as needed.
- Assist with training and ongoing support for housekeeping and inspection staff both in the field and in the office. Help foster a high-energy, team-oriented atmosphere aligned with FLPP’s values.
- Stay current on cleaning products, tools, and inspection tote supplies to enhance quality control and guest satisfaction. Support additional operational quality control initiatives as requested by management.
Callbacks:
The Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for identifying and documenting cleanliness or quality issues during property inspections using the Breezeway app, including detailed notes and photo verification. When deficiencies are identified and the housekeeper is onsite, the Inspector provides real-time coaching and guidance to ensure standards are met. If time constraints prevent immediate follow-up, the Inspector ensures a timely reinspection is completed.
When the housekeeper is not present, the Inspector independently resolves minor issues that can be corrected within 15 minutes. For more significant concerns, the Inspector escalates the matter to the Quality Control Coordinator to initiate a callback clean and, when possible, conducts a reinspection to confirm that all standards have been fully restored.
If a minor maintenance issue is found, Inspectors are responsible for troubleshooting the issue first and then creating a task with specific details, pictures and any troubleshooting steps that were taken. Examples of minor maintenance issues are as follows:
- Loose or broken toilet seat or handle
- Shower or closet door off track
- Hot Tub Breakers Reset - Getting Unit out of Sleep Mode
- WiFi troubleshooting/setup, installing routers, etc.
- Cable Box/TV Issues- Troubleshooting/Installation apts. with a provider, replacing HDMI cords, remotes, etc.
- Fireplace pilot lighting
- Loose Chair or Table Leg tightening
- Spread Salt or blow leaves
- Minor Cosmetic Issue- Replacing broken light switch and receptacle plates
- Tighten loose door handles, property handles, doors, etc.
- Provide property inventory and supply support by reporting inventory issues and restocking properties as directed.
Additional Expectations
Mileage reimbursement is available for approved work-related travel when a company vehicle is not available or practical. Employees may use personal vehicles provided they meet all legal and insurance requirements. Reimbursable mileage is paid at the current FLPP rate and applies only to business travel, excluding normal commuting. All mileage must be properly documented and submitted in accordance with company procedures to be eligible for reimbursement.
- Manage safety and security policies and procedures, report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries: complete safety training and certifications.
- Coordinates with the FLPP Safety manager to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ensures all policies are followed and enforced for outside agencies.
- Keeps all required safety records and documentation current and up-to-date.
- Maintains a safety first work ethic.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; minimum of one (1) year of professional cleaning and/or property inspection experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of residential cleaning standards with the ability to evaluate quality, identify deficiencies, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to manage changing priorities while maintaining personal energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Must be reliable and flexible with work hours.
- Reliable transportation, Driver’s License and ability to commute to various properties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands in a repetitive motion, reaching, grasping, rotating, bending, walking, squatting, standing, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
