JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional
LOCATION: Ross Elementary
REPORTS TO: Principal
HOURS: Full Time
SALARY: $15.95 - 18.79/hr Depending on Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Pass a background check

Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below

Positive public relations skills.

Experience working with young children in preschool or childcare center preferred
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform such school-related duties as may be assigned by the Preschool Manager and Preschool Lead Teacher.

Translate communication between parents/students and the lead teacher.

Be knowledgeable of, and uphold, all processes pertaining to teachers and students as specified in the MOU.

Conduct instructional activities assigned by the lead teacher; work with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and preschool standards.

Assist in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students within the limits of resources provided by Preschool.

Assist in the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicating these objectives to students.

Assist in using curriculum and assessment tools adopted by Preschool and employ methods that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities and follow prescribed safety regulations.

Assist in maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, Preschool policies, Kuna Collaborative Processes, and administrative regulations in a timely manner.

Coordinate with the preschool lead teacher in planning and executing three or more family nights during the school year, or as directed by the Preschool.

Assist the lead teacher to establish and maintain open lines of communication and cooperative relations with the administration, students, parents, and colleagues.

Participate in professional development as assigned by the Preschool.

Work collaboratively with the lead preschool teacher on lessons, classroom management, developmentally appropriate practice, and day-to-day activities.

Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

Act ethically in all aspects of the teaching role.

Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
