Position Summary
The Director of Nursing provides oversight of nursing operations and clinical leadership for Preterm’s medical services and staff. They will participate in strategic visioning as part of Preterm’s senior leadership team and ensure delivery of high quality, compassionate, patient-centered and whole person healthcare.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as part of the clinic leadership team.
- Implements and evaluates medical standards; Establishes clinical goals and metrics to ensure that Preterm provides excellent care
- Supervises Nurse Manager, Ultrasound Administrator, Ultrasound Techs, and supports supervision of Patient Support and Nursing Team. Maintains regular collaborative meetings with Quality and Compliance Administrator, Records Administrator, and Clinic Support Administrator.
- Coordinates and maintains ongoing team trainings and competencies for staff surrounding values-aligned care practices
- Supports staff by listening and responding to staff concerns and managing escalated patient and staff complaints
- Communicates regularly with the Medical Director and Executive Director for on-going consultation, feedback and accountability.
- Provides stewardship within the collaborative care model
- Ensures services are provided using evidence-based practices and protocols
- Collaborates with other directors, managers, and clinic staff to develop and implement new services and programs
- Leads a positive workplace culture based on honesty, trust, and mutual accountability
- Is able to step in to provide clinical care in emergency clinical situations or staffing shortages
- Maintains the medical clinic’s quality and compliance
- Works with Quality and Compliance Administrator to ensure that Preterm meets or exceeds regulatory and accreditation standards
- Enforces day-to-day compliance with Preterm’s policies and procedures
- Develops or updates clinical policies and procedures in conjunction with the Medical Director
- Leads development, surveillance, and enforcement of infection prevention and control protocols
- Prepares for, and participates in, accreditation surveys and standards
- Other duties as assigned
This position reports to the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the department directors to provide leadership and strategic direction for Preterm. The DON must support the advancement of reproductive justice through organizational culture and healthcare experiences and outcomes. Education and Experience
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- RN / APN Licensure in the state of Ohio
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience with minimum 1 year of clinical management or supervisory experience
- Familiarity with and support for reproductive health, rights and justice.
- Experience in surgical and recovery room nursing care.
- ACLS Certified
The most competitive candidates will also possess the following skills and qualifications:
- 4+ years of nursing experience
- MSN/BSN, or 2 or more years of clinical management experience

Salary and Benefits:
$100,000-$115,000 yearly salary. Health and dental insurance, generous paid time off, 403b with annual employer deposit of $1500, life insurance, short- and long-term disability.
Sign on Bonus of $1000, and Retention bonus of $2000 after 18 months.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The schedule is generally normal business hours Tuesday-Saturday with the option to work from home Thursday or swap Thursday for Monday. There is a requirement to perform work, attend meetings and events before or after normal workings hours, and occasionally on weekends and evenings. Some travel by personal automobile is required. Occasional overnight travel is required.
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices and healthcare settings, which includes the need for general safe workplace practices with office and healthcare equipment and computers, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. This position is performed in an office and healthcare setting although off-site meetings in various settings occur.
Lift light objects [less than 20 pounds] and carry them short distances [20 feet or less].
