Overview
Dynamic, well established leading plastic manufacturing company in the Northwest Houston area seeks a self-motivated Controller to join and support our team.
As a Financial Controller, you will be instrumental in overseeing the company’s financial operations while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role is vital to our mission of maintaining financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making within the organization.
In addition to the straightforward educational and experience criteria , to be considered a candidate you must be a self-starter and have a professionally mature attitude. The successful candidate will be provided with all the tools to succeed. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Office/r and President in his absence but may work to with directors/managers as well.
To be chosen for this role, you must have extensive experience and knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as accounting practices. Effective written and verbal communication skills complemented by a high level of attention to detail are both important keys to success in this role.
In this role, you will be expected to provide Financial Accounting support to the leadership team of the company. Responsibilities include managing the company’s entire accounting cycle, (including adjusting/closing entries), assisting in cost accounting, financial audit, and serving as a liaison between the ELT and the company’s accounting firm. Lastly, the ideal candidate will be expected to manage a small team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage A/R and A/P.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise the preparation of financial statements and reports for management review periodically.
- Provide the CEO with accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support operational goals.
- Provide guidance and support to accounting staff in their daily activities.
- Oversee the company’s cost accounting practices including but not limited to analyzing product costs by tracking direct materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
Month-End Close: Perform all necessary closing procedures including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals. Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end closing process.
Inventory Management – Assist in the performance of regular inventory count.
Experience
To be considered for the role the ideal candidate would have:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited school.
- Master’s in accounting or a CPA is preferred but not required.
- 5 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or enterprise solution) is a MUST!
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles.
- Experience with manufacturing ERP or IMS systems preferred (SAP, Fishbowl) is a PLUS!
- Must be a team player!
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are required.
- Must be a self-starter.
- Must have a professional demeanor to interact with our company and our clients.

Pay: $90,000-110,000 per year including a performance bonus.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
