Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Generator Technician to join our team. The Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of residential and commercial standby generator systems. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Genesis Power is a family owned and operated business. We engineer, install, maintain, and repair commercial, industrial, and residential EM Power Systems of all makes and models in the tristate area. Our customer base includes Sheriff Departments, comm towers, and ag facilities in the area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventative service on residential/commercial standby generators.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential/commercial generator systems, including engines, electrical components, controls, and fuel systems.
- Complete generator start-ups, inspections, and operational testing.
- Install and replace generator-related components and equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
- Perform load testing and verify proper generator operation.
- Identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and customer reports.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, repairs, and recommendations.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with generators, small engines, electrical systems, or similar mechanical equipment preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and electrical testing meters.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and controls.
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls efficiently.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Experience servicing standby generators such as Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, or similar systems.
- Electrical, automotive, diesel, or small engine repair experience.
- Generator certification or manufacturer training.
- Upon hire, candidate will receive extensive training provided with ongoing opportunities for manufacturer classes, technical education, and industry certifications to support career growth and advancement.
Work Environment
This position requires field service work at various customer locations. Technicians may work indoors and outdoors and may encounter varying weather conditions, noise, and mechanical equipment. Proper safety practices and use of personal protective equipment are required.

Pay: $64,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
