Maintaining security and control of Deaf Smith County Jail in Hereford, Texas as a Jailer/Corrections Officer. Must be able to work around inmates, and follow rules and regulations. Starting pay: $48,169.25
Level 2 pay upon completion of training period and receiving state licensing: $50,193.33
Certificate Pay: (Additional Pay)
- Basic Jailer- $2,000 a year in addition to salary (Acquired by all staff after 1 year of employment)
- Intermediate Jailer- $3,000 a year in addition to salary
- Advanced Jailer- $4,000 a year in addition to salary
- Master Jailer- $5,000 a year in addition to salary
Uniform Allowance: $2,160 a year ($90 a paycheck)
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18.
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be of good moral character.
- Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Be able to work the hours required of shift work.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess a valid Texas driver's license with good driving history.
- No Felony or Class "A" Misdemeanor convictions on Criminal History.
- No Class "B" convictions in the past 10 years on Criminal History.
- Must be willing to work overtime if the need arises.
