The Animal Care Technician (ACT) serves as a dedicated, compassionate caregiver for the animals at Scott County Humane Society (SCHS). The ACT is responsible for maintaining a sanitary, humane environment and providing basic care for the animals in our center.
The hours will be scheduled Tuesday-Friday from 8:30am-5:30pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm. Some holidays are also required for this position.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, have a clean driving record, be authorized to work in the United States, and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Prioritize compassionate and humane care of animals
-Ensure proper cleaning and disinfecting of the kennels, cages, floors, and walls
- Ensure proper care, feeding, and watering of animals
- Interact with animals in a safe, humane, and respectful manner
- Remain alert and aware of animal health and conduct
- Assist with giving medication for foster animals as needed
- Ensure all areas are neat and clean
- Exemplify exceptional customer service
- Engage customers with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Transport animals to vet clinics and/or adoption centers as needed
- Answering phones as needed
- Speaking with potential adopters and visitors
- Assist with managing volunteers
- Assist with issuing Vouchers to the public for Spay / Neuter
- Other request by Staff or board members
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
