Job Title:Customer Service Representative/Teller

Position Summary
This role will deliver superior customer service to all of the bank customers in both new accounts and all other services provided. The individual in this role will process a wide variety of banking transactions and present a positive, efficient and professional frontline atmosphere of which includes developing a diverse knowledge base in regard to the products and services offered by the Association and will be able to readily explain these products and services to our customers.
Duties include opening new accounts, cash handling, processing mortgage payments, verifying and processing changes to existing accounts, answering customer questions via phone or in person, referring customers to the appropriate bank department and resolving related account questions and concerns.
Upon successful demonstration of the assigned job duties this role will also have the opportunity to expand in their knowledge and levels of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Actively educating and informing customers on all products and actively cross servicing all products/services.
- Assisting customer(s) with account inquiries in a timely and accurate manner and performing all functions associated with account maintenance as requested including but not limited to personal and account data changes, address changes, and account closures.
- Remaining knowledgeable and proficient in the account opening process for all deposit accounts including but not limited to savings, checking, money market, and cd accounts; having proficiency in identification and new account screening methods and being able to fully explain regulatory requirements on all accounts and services.
- Remaining knowledgeable and proficient in Certificate of Deposit (CDs) and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) including opening, renewing and closing, and accurately calculating withdrawal penalties and dividend payments as appropriate
- Assisting customers with transaction requests and providing backup support to the teller line when necessary
- Assisting with the reconciliation of all branch negotiables including but not limited to money orders, official/cashier’s checks, etc.
- Maintaining usage proficiency on all customer -related third party systems and software including the maintenance of customer records (systems include, but are not limited to, customer check ordering, ATM/Debit card ordering and maintenance, account and identity verification, etc.)
- Having excellent verbal and written communication with department supervisors, co-workers, and customers
- Accurately and efficiently completing all customer or account related forms and forwarding to appropriate department for action and/or filing
- Possessing complete and accurate knowledge of all products, services, policies, and procedures
- Being available to travel to both branch locations for back-up as requested by management, as well as working on Saturdays when needed.
- Assisting with the opening/closing of the branch office as necessary
- Performs a variety of teller transactions including, but not limited to; cashing checks by verifying endorsement, receiving proper identification, and ensuring validity; receiving checking and savings deposits; processing loan and property tax payments; processing withdrawals, and completing Hold Notices
- Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 or more years sales and/or other retail customer service experience
- A focus on serving the customer, gaining the customers respect and trust, and always acting with the customer in mind
- Analytical ability to quickly assess customer ’s financial needs and offer solutions with excellent product and cross serving skills.
- The ability to type accurately; proficient in use of 10-key and other office equipment; intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to learn and use PC hardware and software
- Proficient in English grammar and spelling with excellent oral and written communications
- Willingness to attend training seminars and meetings outside normal working hours.
- Must have a proactive and positive attitude toward customers, supervisors, co-workers, and the Association.
- Notary Public Certification Preferred
