Responsibilities
- Operate plasma cutting tables with precision, ensuring accurate cuts according to technical drawings and blueprints.
- Set up and calibrate CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines including laser cutters, milling machines, lathes, and press brakes for various fabrication tasks.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine specifications for metal fabrication projects.
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools to inspect parts for quality and adherence to specifications.
- Assist with material handling using forklifts and cranes, ensuring safe movement of sheet metal and fabricated components within the shop.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and tools to maintain optimal operation and safety standards.
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations, including machine setup, operation, and material handling.
Experience
- Prior experience operating CNC machinery such as plasma tables, laser cutters, CNC mills or lathes is a plus.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques including forming machines, stamping presses, welding, and sheet metal working.
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, blueprint reading, and shop math for precise machining tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machine operation, tooling setup, and safety standards in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work with hand tools, measurement instruments like micrometers and calipers, and perform quality inspections accurately.
- Experience with safety protocol adherence in a manufacturing setting is essential for maintaining a safe work environment.
