About Our Program
Established in 1998, we are a family-owned, locally loved preschool serving Brooklyn for over 28 years. Contracting with the NYC DOE since 2001, we have prepared over 700 children for kindergarten. We combine the warmth of a close-knit, community-based site with the professionalism and high standards of a premier Universal Pre-K (UPK) program.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Teacher / Educational Director to guide our classroom of 18 children, supported by an Assistant Teacher and reporting to the Executive Director. We actively mentor and support educators at all career stages with rich resources, professional development, and personal guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Nurture & Guide: Lead and support children in their first group learning experience.
- Curriculum & Assessment: Design engaging lessons aligned with NYC DOE guidelines and curriculum; document progress using authentic assessments.
- Environment & Culture: Foster literacy and school readiness through a print-rich, hands-on environment.
- Partnerships & Compliance: Maintain strong family communication and keep accurate classroom records for DOE and DOHMH (Article 47).
- Professional Growth: Participate in professional development, collaborative planning, and DOE workshops.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Early Childhood Education (or related field)
NYS Certification / Teaching License
Must have one of the following:
- Early Childhood: Birth–Grade 2, N–6, or PK–6
- Students with Disabilities: Birth–Grade 2 or All Grades
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with ECERS, CLASS, ASQ, and/or Work Sampling
Other: Strong communication; tech proficiency; NYC DOE fingerprinting & background clearance
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $61,000 – $68,000/year (based on qualifications)
