The Project Manager is responsible for managing all phases of structural steel fabrication projects, including project planning, scheduling, procurement, production coordination, quality control, logistics, and customer communication. This role serves as the primary liaison between customers, engineering, detailing, production, vendors, and field installation teams to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple structural steel fabrication projects simultaneously.
- Review project contracts, specifications, drawings, and schedules.
- Develop detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Conduct project kickoff meetings and regular progress updates.
- Manage customer expectations and resolve project-related issues.
- Prepare and present project status reports.
- Coordinate with detailing, design, and engineering teams to ensure drawing accuracy and approval.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
- Work closely with production managers and shop supervisors to ensure fabrication schedules are met.
- Monitor material availability and procurement requirements.
- Coordinate material purchasing and delivery schedules.
- Support erection and installation planning when applicable
- Ensure fabrication activities align with project milestones.
- Work with shipping and logistics teams to schedule deliveries.
- Ensure compliance with AISC, AWS, OSHA, and applicable industry standards.
- Support quality control inspections and audits.
- Promote safe work practices throughout project execution.
- Address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing complex infrastructure or commercial steel structure projects with a strong understanding of steel regulations and safety standards.
- Hands-on steel structure site experience with a solid grasp of blueprint reading.
- 5+ years of project management experience in structural steel fabrication, manufacturing, or construction.
- Experience with large commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding, and erection practices.
- Expertise in construction scheduling, cost management, contract administration, and project coordination practices.
- Ability to manage teams effectively in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills for clear collaboration with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA safety training or PMP (Project Management Professional) are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and manufacturing operations.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, or project management software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Project.
- Familiarity with Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or similar industry software is a plus.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
