The Innovation and Technology engineer will work to improve Patriot’s machining technology and process-based capabilities. They will predict and identify problems and analysis of machine data and production results, as well as examination of projected cutting tool performance and machine processes via simulation software. They will be a champion of implementing new technologies and processes within Patriot, identifying emerging technologies from academic or industry sources, tracking production processes and leading others in executing their implementation plans.
Responsibilities:

Lead the Innovation and Technology team in machining process development

Analyze data gathered from CNC machines

Develop cutting tools and advanced machining techniques for use by others

Develop test plans and artifacts for proving out processes
-
Document process plans for NC programming
-
Perform testing, generate test reports and manage testing projects

Develop methods to minimize cost per part

Lead efforts to develop and implement manufacturing technology
-
Research, evaluate, test and implement new technology and processes that support manufacturing

Organize proposals to purchase any technology that improves manufacturing operations

Design cutting tool assembly models and drawings

Manufacturing Process Modeling and Simulation, and testing

Develop advanced process modeling tools including machine kinematics, volumetric accuracy

Cutting Force modeling and cutting force measurements

Vibration and chatter simulation and testing
Requirements:

B.S. in Engineering or Physics, Mechanical, Aerospace preferred

Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

Basic understanding of CNC machines and controllers

Basic understanding of machining / metal cutting processes

Data analysis

Fundamentals of CNC programming and CAD modeling
