Job Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Class A Reefer Driver, where you will be the vital link in delivering temperature-sensitive freight across diverse routes. Duties
- Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers with refrigerated (reefer) units, ensuring proper handling of temperature-sensitive freight.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, adhering to safety protocols.
- Drive across designated routes, managing schedules to meet delivery deadlines while optimizing fuel efficiency.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor, trailer, and refrigeration units to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, freight details, and delivery documentation in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and any issues encountered on the road.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on trucks, including transmission operation and refrigeration system monitoring, to prevent breakdowns.
Experience
- Proven experience operating Class A commercial trucks in a freight or delivery setting.
- Prior delivery driver experience handling refrigerated trailers or similar cargo types preferred.
- Familiarity with route driving, load & unload procedures, and safety regulations governing commercial trucking.
- Hands-on experience with forklift operation, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks is a plus for loading/unloading freight efficiently.
- Knowledge of various truck configurations such as flatbed or tanker trailers is advantageous but not required.
