JOB TITLE: Part-Time Speech-Language Pathologist

Salary Schedule: $30 Per Hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.

Master’s Degree preferred from an accredited college or university.

Possess and maintain a proper certificate as required by the Alabama State Department of Education.

Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Exceptional Services Coordinator

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and hours as communicated in the provisions of the proposed contract.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.

Organizes and conducts language, speech, and hearing screenings in the schools, as directed.

Evaluates students for speech-language services through use of standardized tests.

Consults with principals and teachers regarding scheduling student therapy.

Prescribes and implements speech-language therapy for designated students.

Provides individual and/or group therapy for children with language, speech, or hearing disorders.

Participates as requested in IEP development, implementation, and meetings.

Provides information to teachers about student therapy progress.

Recommends classroom speech improvement plan.

Maintains required records regarding children’s progress in therapy.

Conveys needs of assigned student to classroom teachers

Meets with parents as requested.

Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in the accordance with state and federal laws.

Demonstrated initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.

Engages in professional growth and demonstrated professional ethics and effective leadership.

Maintains and submits required reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a team member.

Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies , and state, federal, and local laws.

Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.

Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.

Ability to interpret assessment date, group students, and develop methodologies and strategies conducive to individualized instructional needs.

Ability us use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce and submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.

Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum knowledge of current educational research.

Basic understating and knowledge of current technology.

Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.

Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectives.

Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.

Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.

Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.

Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
