Duties
- Thoroughly wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety protocols
- Support meal assembly by preparing ingredients according to menu specifications and dietary guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, floors, and storage areas through regular cleaning routines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and other culinary tools
- Follow food safety standards in handling ingredients to prevent contamination and ensure proper food storage practices
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal prep activities and ensure timely service
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Experience in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating familiarity with food handling and safety procedures
- Knowledge of menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation techniques
- Skills in operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with culinary techniques such as knife skills, slicing methods, and basic cooking processes
- Understanding of food safety management practices within the food industry or catering settings
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and support team efforts
