EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Join our award-winning Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts team as a part-time lifeguard. We need your energy and positive attitude to provide high-quality customer service at the Kettering Recreation Complex. This position is responsible for the prevention of accidents and incidents in the water and the surrounding area through proper scanning and rule enforcement. This position is directly responsible for leading patrons and has an active role in Emergency Action Plans. Pay range is $11.40 to $13.80 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills knowledge and abilities. This position will be permitted to work up to 28 hours per week year-round.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Candidates must be 15 years of age. Must possess water safety, customer-service and conflict resolution skills. Must demonstrate maturity and good decision making. Must be able to verbally communicate to the public and handle facility and patron emergencies and altercations in an effective way. Must be personable and willing to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public.
Must hold current Lifeguard certification that includes CPR/AED and First Aid training. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
