Part-Time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator
Apex Hospice Care | 32 Hours/Week | $26–$40/hour
Are you a people person who loves building relationships, connecting with the community, and making a meaningful difference?
Apex Hospice Care is looking for a compassionate, organized, and outgoing Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator to grow and lead our hospice volunteer program.
Our volunteers are an important part of the hospice team, providing companionship, support, and meaningful connection to patients and families. We’re looking for someone who can find great people, get them excited about our mission, and create a volunteer program where people feel valued, supported, and connected.
What You’ll Do
- Recruit and engage new hospice volunteers through community outreach, networking, online recruitment, and local partnerships
- Interview, screen, onboard, orient, and train volunteers
- Match volunteers with opportunities based on patient and family needs, volunteer interests, personality, and availability
- Build strong relationships with volunteers and provide ongoing support, supervision, education, and recognition
- Work closely with our hospice clinical team to identify opportunities for volunteer involvement
- Develop relationships with schools, community organizations, senior communities, faith-based organizations, and other potential volunteer partners
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, files, activity documentation, and monthly statistics
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate
- Help evaluate and continuously improve the volunteer program
- Represent Apex Hospice Care in the community and help grow awareness of our volunteer program
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to meet someone who is:
- Warm, compassionate, personable, and comfortable connecting with people from all backgrounds
- A natural relationship-builder who enjoys networking and community outreach
- Organized, dependable, and able to independently manage multiple priorities
- A strong verbal and written communicator
- Comfortable recruiting, interviewing, training, and coordinating volunteers
- Able to work independently both in the office and out in the community
- Passionate about supporting patients and families and interested in the hospice mission
A college degree is preferred, particularly in human services or a related field. Healthcare experience is preferred, and previous hospice and/or volunteer-program experience is a strong plus.
Schedule & Work Environment
32 hours per week
This is not a remote position. The Volunteer Coordinator will divide time between the office and community-based work, including volunteer recruitment, outreach, relationship-building, meetings, and other activities throughout our service area.
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally are important for this role.
Compensation
Compensation is based on directly relevant experience:
- New to hospice: $26–$30/hour
- 3–5 years of relevant hospice experience: $30–$35/hour
- 5+ years of strong hospice/volunteer program experience: $35–$40/hour
Why Apex?
This is an opportunity to truly build and grow a volunteer program, not simply maintain one.
We’re looking for someone who will bring ideas, energy, creativity, follow-through, and heart to the position. You’ll have the opportunity to develop community partnerships, strengthen our volunteer network, and help create meaningful connections between volunteers and the patients and families we serve.
If you have experience in hospice, volunteer coordination, community outreach, social services, healthcare, nonprofit programs, or another people-centered role and this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
