MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Valid Florida drivers license.

Valid Florida commercial drivers license (CDL) or the ability to obtain:

Class B;
-
Passenger vehicle endorsement (P);

Air brakes endorsement;
-
Tank vehicle endorsement (N);
-
Hazardous materials endorsement (H).
-
Valid Florida Department of Education School Bus Safety Inspector Certificate or the ability to obtain.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.

Two years of experience as a mechanic.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.

Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.

Knowledge of industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.

Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.

Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

Proficiently follow vehicle manufacturers service manuals to conduct vehicle safety inspections and execute minor repairs.

Collaborate effectively with fellow shop personnel to ensure prompt repairs of the Districts vehicles.
-
Conduct monthly inspections on all District vehicles as required and promptly prepare corresponding inspection reports.

Operate service vehicles and transport fuel to provide emergency roadside assistance to buses and other vehicles and equipment as required.

Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, adhering to stringent safety protocols.

Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Maintain current driver and CDL licenses with all necessary endorsements.
-
Follow department directives and adhere to School Board policies as instructed.
-
