Companion Caregiver (IHSS) – Elderly Male with Mild Dementia
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced caregiver to provide companionship and support for my elderly father through the IHSS program.
He is an ambulatory senior with mild dementia who enjoys getting out of the house. He benefits from gentle redirection, companionship, and assistance with maintaining his daily routine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction.
- Offer gentle redirection and supervision as needed.
- Provide medication reminders.
- Monitor and encourage regular meals and adequate hydration.
- Assist with grocery shopping and other essential errands.
- Accompany him on walks, outings, appointments, and recreational activities.
- Encourage participation in activities while promoting his independence.
- Observe his overall well-being and promptly communicate any concerns to the family.
Qualifications:
- Active IHSS provider or willing and eligible to enroll as an IHSS provider.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional caregiving experience working with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive impairments.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience providing companionship and memory care in a home setting is strongly preferred.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Reliable, insured vehicle registered in your name.
- Clean driving record.
- Dependable, patient, compassionate, trustworthy, and professional.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Two personal references.
- Copy of current CPR certification.
- Ability to successfully complete any applicable IHSS enrollment requirements.
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
